Masha Gessen Explores Russia’s New Totalitarianism

In an important and timely visit to Swarthmore College, National Book Award winner and New Yorker staff writer Masha Gessen will speak, answer questions, and sign books on Wednesday, October 23, at Swarthmore’s Science Center 101. The event, which is free and open to all, will begin at 7 p.m. with a moderated discussion and Q&A session. At 8 p.m., Geshen will sign books. Free copies will be available of his NBA winning The Future Is History: How Totalitarianism Reclaimed Russia.

Geshen has been both a Guggenheim and a Carnegie fellow. He now teaches in Amherst College. His visit is made possible by the William J. Cooper Foundation, Swarthmore’s Russian department, and SPEER. For information, email jvergara1@swarthmore.edu.
