The Players Club of Swarthmore kicks off its post-pandemic schedule on Friday, August 13, with a comedic take on love and urban angst entitled Detroit, a Pulitzer-prize-nominated play by Lisa D’Amour, directed by George Mulford.

The story centers on an attractive young couple who move into an urban neighborhood with no furniture and little else to their names. Nonetheless, they’re buoyant, funny, and clearly in love, with as much to teach their neighbors as they have to learn from them. Their savvy and slightly older neighbors provide counseling during shared cookouts and excursions as they recount their dreams, flirt a little, and reveal more than they intended about their fears and obsessions. The audience is advised that the play contains strong language.

The cast includes Aimee Theresa of West Chester, Matt Braddak of Drexel Hill, Eric Crist of West Grove, John Harvey of Wallingford, and Sandra Lawler of Broomall.  Performances will be August 13-15, 19-22, and 26-28. Curtain time is 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. on Sundays, and 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $9 for students; they are available at www.pcstheater.org or at the door.

The Players Club of Swarthmore is located at 614 Fairview Road in Swarthmore.
