On Sunday, June 30 at 10:30 p.m., firefighters responded to an accident with reported injuries at N. Chester Rd. and Ogden Ave. Both vehicles required towing, but all occupants refused medical treatment.

From June 17 through June 30, 2019, the Swarthmore Fire & Protective Association responded to the following alarms:

EMS

The ambulance responded to 42 calls for medical assistance. These were to Swarthmore, Rutledge, Morton, Springfield Township, Ridley Twp., Upper Chichester and Nether Providence Twp. The calls were for a variety of emergencies including: fall w/trauma, sick person, respiratory difficulty, cardiac emergency, head injury, change in mental status, hypotension, seizures, accident w/injury, accident w/entrapment, medical alarm, diabetic emergency, animal bite, lift assist, psychiatric emergency, cerebro vascular emergency, choking, fractures, tachycardia, allergic reaction, syncopal episode and nature unknown.

Automatic Fire Alarm

Two in Swarthmore, one in the 500 block of Harvard Ave. for a driveway entry smoke detector activation, and one on Forest Ln. for a 1st fl. fire alarm activation. Two in Nether Providence Twp., one in the 100 block of Chesley Dr. for a 2nd fl. fire alarm, , an one in the 900 block of Truepenny Rd. for an attic heat detector alarm. Three in Springfield Twp., all in the 700 block of S. Chester Rd. for a general fire alarm on June 28, 29, and 30.

Automobile

Two in Swarthmore, one at Yale Ave. & S. Chester Rd. for traffic accident involving male driver w/unknown injuries, and one at N. Chester Rd. and Ogden Ave. for a two vehicle accident w/reported injuries (see photo). One in Nether Providence Twp. at S. Providence Rd. & Meadow Ln. for a male driver having a seizure, and one in Ridley Twp. at MacDade Blvd. and Milmont Ave. for a female trapped in a vehicle.

Building

One in Swarthmore, in the 500 block of N. Chester Rd. for an audible fire alarm. Two in Morton, one in the 100 block of N. Morton Ave. for a grill against the house on fire, and one in the 100 block of President Ave. for a dryer fire in the rear of the house. Two in Nether Providence Twp., one in the 100 block of Allen St. for smoke inside the house from unknown origin, and one in the 200 block of Grandview Rd. for a kitchen fire.

Hazmat

 One in Morton in the 100 block of School St. for a carbon monoxide activation, and one in Nether Providence Twp., in the 700 block of Pennsylvania Ave. for a natural gas leak inside.

Mutual Aid Calls

Three each to Morton/Rutledge and Springfield Twp., six to Nether Providence Twp., and one to Ridley Twp.
