Oct 13 Swarthmore’s Top Journalism Job Opens Up

Breaking news: Swarthmorean editor Chris Reynolds will be moving on from his post this fall. “Editing the Swarthmorean for the past 4 ½ years has been a great job, but to everything, there is a season. I’ll be leaving the paper in solid condition, with loyal readers and lots of upside,” Chris said.

Indeed, Chris’s departure creates new opportunities for us, and maybe for you. We are seeking a tech-savvy editor to take the reins from Chris and continue the tradition of fine local journalism that goes back 125 years in Swarthmore. As editor, you will lead the publishing team’s efforts to determine, select, and prepare the contents of the print and online versions of the Swarthmorean for each of the 50 weeks we publish. You’ll cover meetings and events, write, review and edit stories, pictures and letters, and work with reporters, photographers and the myriad contributors who made The Swarthmorean part of the social fabric of Swarthmore and its surrounding communities. Innovation is encouraged, particularly in the digital realm, and there is plenty of space for creative expression. Though the workdays are not always traditional 9 to 5, the salary is competitive.
