To the Editor:

On behalf of the Swarthmore Public Library (SwPL), I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the community of Swarthmore for their generosity, enthusiasm and heartfelt support of our recent 90th anniversary celebration. There were so many individuals who donated their time and energy, businesses who donated funding or merchandise, and people who celebrated with us, all of whom helped to make our events successful. Because of you, SwPL held three fun and well-attended events, created an in-depth historical display, debuted a new logo, and raised more than $2,000!

While the 90th anniversary was a bit bigger in scope than what is typical, this level of community support is not an anomaly. Day in and day out, SwPL reaps the benefits of an engaged community — from help with and sponsorship of big events such as our Book It! 5K, to the dedication of a small Friends group in raising much needed funds, to the fact that our little library continues to have the highest per capita circulation of any Delaware County library. Because of your support, SwPL continues to thrive.

As Helen Keller said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” SwPL is a testament to our community’s unwavering commitment to equal access to information, lifelong learning, and community collaboration. By continuing our work together, we (and generations to come) can look forward to another 90 years for SwPL!

Sincerely,

Amber Osborne, Director
