Freezer Fundraising Warming Up

Freezer fund progress

Thanks to all who came out to last Friday’s Co-op Movie Night. For our first time running this event, it was very successful. From admission donations and sales of food from our grill, we raised more than $600 to go towards essential freezer repairs. Everything was run by Co-op owners who volunteered their time to make sure all profits went directly to the freezer fund.

It was a great night, and we are grateful for everyone in our community who came out and continues to support the Co-op. (Especially Dorian Hood, who used his own savings to pay for his ticket, and even donated extra!)

Our next movie night is planned for Friday, August 23, when we will be showing The Greatest Showman. The grill will fire up 6 p.m., and the movie will start once it is dark enough, likely around 8. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. We will be having a third movie night, likely at the end of September or early October.

We have also been partnering with Coach Sam Nardi from The Ready Room in Swarthmore, who is holding Fundraising Fitness Classes. Our first class was on July 27; we raised $365. The next one was Wednesday, August 7, and the last will be a yoga class on August 21 at 7 p.m., with a $15 donation. Sam reached out to us after reading about our freezer issue and offered to help by donating his time for these fundraisers — just another way members of the community have come together to support the Co-op.
