To the Editor,
A couple of weeks ago, I was on a walk and took a nasty fall. Right next to me appeared a mom whose children I taught, and she asked me what I wanted her to do. I asked her to call my husband, which she did. Next thing I knew, a wonderful man who identified himself as an EMT was by my side, and he took over.
Police arrived. I asked Officer Ann Bardo to help keep my husband from seeing me, and she did. Soon, the ambulance came, and I was surrounded by kind voices and caring hands. The first EMT on site — I think his name was Mike — stayed with me even though he had simply been driving by when he saw me fall!
Never once was I afraid.
It’s going to be a bit of a long haul until I’m 100%, but I am thankful every day to live in a community of thoughtful, caring people.
