o the Editor,
We are an ostensibly self-contained village nestled in a country born with the genocidal blood of its natives on its hands, and — after much struggle over civil and human rights — we are still under the influence of our early history of slavery and racism. My 53-year tenure in Swarthmore has seen political, cultural, religious, and integrative progress. But, like the rest of this nation, we have a long way to go. Let our local newspaper keep our attention focused on what is important — for ourselves and for our country.
