Hedgerow Summer Classes Open for Kids

Hedgerow Summer Classes Open for Kids

Hedgerow Theatre Company’s Theatre School is now enrolling students from age 8 through high school for summer classes offering high-energy fun and high-caliber training in creating and performing theater art. Two summer sessions allow students to learn the fundamentals and the intricacies of storytelling through theater, then putting them into action with public performances at Hedgerow‘s facilities in Rose Valley.

Beginning in the second week of July, Hedgerow prepares students to take part in Mary Poppins Jr., with classes and rehearsals taking place daily Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., beginning July 8. The experience culminates in performances (all at the Hedgerow Theatre) from July 26 through 28.

The second session — Frozen Jr. — begins August 5 and runs through August 25, again with sessions each weekday from 9 to 3. The play will be performed August 23-25 at Hedgerow.

And four week-long creative camps in August focus children’s attention on fun and creative exploration through playwriting and performance along a different theme each week. These weekly camps for ages 6 to 11 involve creators in developing and presenting stories about “Pirate Adventure,” “Witches and Wizards,” “Whodunit?” and “Myths and Legends.”

All classes will be at the Hedgerow Theater School, 146 W. Rose Valley Road. For enrollment help and more information, call Darlene McClellan at Hedgerow, 610-565-4211, or search “Classes” at Hedgerowtheatre.org.
