Allie Wilson on the Fast Track in Atlanta

Allie Wilson on the Fast Track in Atlanta

Former Strath Haven (Class of 2014) track star Allie Wilson is shifting her running career into high gear as a new member of one of the elite U.S. training programs, the Atlanta Track Club. In the Peachtree State, she will train with runners and coaches who are part of the Olympic Development team. Unlike her student days, running will be her full time job, said Allie, who has been a top middle distance runner from her freshman year at Haven through her collegiate career at Monmouth University in New Jersey.

“I majored in marketing in college and stayed at Monmouth for a 5th year this past year, graduating with my MBA. So I am definitely looking forward to just focusing on my running these next few years, and doing everything I can to take care of myself, to allow my body to get the most out of the training, without having too much on my plate for once!”

“I always wanted to run at this level, but up until my senior year of college it did not seem like a very realistic goal. But one of my teammates from Monmouth, Dylan Capwell, decided to continue running post-collegiately and ended up going to Atlanta, and they definitely were showing the most interest in me. My college coach, Chris Tarello, helped a lot throughout the process and found me a very reputable agent. But I think I knew it was Atlanta all along!”

Wilson will focus on the 800 meter, 1,500 meter, mile and possibly the 3,000 meter. “I have always been an 800m runner, since competing for St. John’s in CYO, and I definitely found a sweet spot with the 800 the past few years, but I do believe that my best shot at competing at the next level is to keep moving up in distance. This opportunity is a dream come true and I can’t wait to see what comes of this next step in my journey.”

Before she ran off, Allie gave “a shout out to my family and friends who have been by my side through it all, as well as the coaches who have made me the runner I am today since I started running 14 years ago. Thank you, Coren and Coach Venturini!”
