A choice in PA-05

A choice in PA-05

To the Editor:

I attended Mary Gay Scanlon’s town hall on Sunday for a discussion on impeachment. I understand that her campaign was supported by left-wing groups and her admitted purpose for running for our PA-05 seat was to impeach Trump. In my opinion she does not understand her constitutional role in the legislature. She took an oath to defend the Constitution, yet in my opinion she is against federalism based on her actions and her policies. Simply put, she must be defeated in the next election for the preservation of our representative republic.

Although Mary Gay and others may claim that Trump is destroying the institution of the Presidency, the Presidency will survive Trump’s approach to running government, which is different than past presidents’. Trump speaks his mind, throws out ideas, then listens to the feedback, but ultimately makes constitutional decisions. Mary Gay’s political impeachment attacks are not what the founders intended for impeachment. Mary Gay is causing permanent harm to the Presidency.

We have a solution. A terrific man from Folcroft named Joe Billie is running for the PA-05 seat next year. He is a Navy veteran, a 30-year volunteer fireman, and a longtime employee of Scott Paper. He is a true Delaware County man, and he believes in the Constitution. Joe is a devoted family man to his wife and two children. I met Joe when I attended his campaign kick-off last Friday. He is endorsed by former secret service agent Gary Byrne, and our former Congressman Curt Weldon.
