Friends of SPL sale succeeds

To the Community:

Thanks to everyone who made the Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library sale a success! Last weekend, the Friends raised $9,358 for the library with its traditional semi-annual Book and Bake sale. Due to the hard work and dedication of countless volunteers — sorters, clerks, bakers, publicity people, set-up people, clean-up people — as well as the excellent library staff, the community came together in a fun and productive manner to benefit the library we all love.

Special thanks to everyone who participated, and there were too many to mention in this letter! Your generosity is deeply appreciated and really paid off in a very successful sale! We also wish to recognize local businesses that helped us by donating baked goods, support and labor — Hobbs, Occasionally Yours, My House Cookies, the Food Co-op, Michael Matotek of Open Sky, K Cookies, Gallery on Park, The Swarthmorean, and HOM. We hope we are not forgetting anyone … If you helped, we thank you sincerely!

Thanks as well to those of you who came and shopped at our sale. Your support is crucial to the library as well! And to those who donated all those excellent books, DVDs and CDs!

In December, the Friends of the Library will begin collecting donations for our next sale. Just drop them off on the designated red cart inside the library doors. (The next sale will take place April 30 through May 2, 2020, in Swarthmore Borough Hall.)

Last but not least, look for our fund appeal via your mailbox in the next couple of weeks.

Sincerely,

Officers of the Friends of the Swarthmore Public Library

Carol L. Kennedy, President
Betty M. Dowling, Vice President
Virginia Williams Joyce, Secretary
Anne S. Papa, Treasurer
