To the Community,
Swarthmore-Rutledge School’s extracurricular book club program is holding a book and winter-clothing drive right now. The books that students in the club are currently reading have a shared theme of home. At our club’s most recent meeting, we had a wonderful presentation from CASA Youth Advocates, which supports and advocates for foster kids, and then the kids discussed what makes them feel safe and loved in their homes. We talked about how, while many of them are lucky to have a consistent sense of home, not all kids are that lucky.
As a service project, we are collecting new books and new winter clothing (socks, hats, gloves, etc.) for foster kids. You can make your donation through December 23. Look for the drop bin just outside the Swarthmore-Rutledge School building.
